Sailing on the Ocean

We went sailing off the Coast of South Carolina on October 19th, 2020.  The wind was light, so we put the sails all the way out.  The boat moved along quite well even with light wind.  I think the fastest we went was about 4 knots.  In stronger winds, the fastest I've ever seen it go was about 6.5 knots.

The engine did well and was able to get us back into the Little River Inlet even the we were fighting a strong outgoing tide.  We simply kept the rpm's a little under 2k and edged along slowly but surely.  I usually motor along at 1500 to 1700 rpm's.

Below are some pictures of the sails out.  The main sail is newer and has a little sunbrella on the tip that sticks out of the mast.  The jib is old and you can see a couple small patch spots in it.  But the jib still holds up well and does its job.
